Wire cut Electrical Discharge Machining(WEDM)is an important branch of CNC machining.At present,the development of multi-axis wire cutting machine tool effectively improve the processing accuracy and efficiency of various types of workpiece,but for complex parts,machine performance is still subject to the constraints of traditional programming efficiency.For the manual programming of complex parts is difficult,time-consuming,error-prone,and hard to guarantee precision,many mold processing enterprises have adopted a number of wire cutting programming auxiliary software for processing,which play a certain role in improving the efficiency of the program.However,it does not solve the major problem of manual programming fundamentally,such as the cumbersome extraction and conversion of processing trajectory,the lack of a typical process library,the low degree of standardization and the uncontrollable programming quality and so on.In view of the above problems,This paper studies the geometric characteristics of wire cutting parts and how to automatically extract the machining path of parts according to those,discusses the typical process of wire cutting in mold manufacture and finally builds the automatic cutting system based on NX platform.The system is mainly divided into geometric analysis module,processing technology integration module and post-processing and simulation module.The geometric analysis module could judge the machinability of the surface through analyzing the geometric characteristics of the 3D model,and calculate the wire cutting processing trajectory in the use of surface differential method.In view of the uncertainty of the design model,the system also provides human-computer interaction interface for the user to confirm or modify the system analysis results.The process integration module abstracts the common processing technology of the mold enterprise into the typical process type in the mold cutting process,and selects the craft type and the process parameter through the process template.The system uses data mining to analyze the user's programming behavior and identify the relationship between the selected technology template and the workpiece type.When the data is accumulated,the system can automatically infer the matching template according to the workpiece information and recommend to the user,which greatly improves the standardization of processing.The post-processing module converts the wire-cutting trajectory and process parameters into NC programs that conform to a particular model,and stores them in a specified path or directly sends to the machine via FTP.The simulation function will directly react the movement state of the electrode wire during the wire cutting process to the NX model view,and analyze the overcutting and undercutting in the process,then send the warning information so that improve the programming quality.The system integrates the design with the wire cutting programming in the same environment,forming the seamless connection between the design output and the wire cutting programming operation,which can greatly reduce programming time for a typical process library of mold companies,standardize programming standards,and improve the accuracy of programming results.
