The coordination compounds, synthesized with transition metal and Schiff-bases as raw materials, are more and more important for their various structures and extensive uses. The applied foreground of these compounds will be extensive in the field of catalysis, bioactivity and material etc.In this paper, nine different aromatic amines reacted with representative compound salicylaldehyde at the same reaction condition to form nine sorts of schiff-bases which were synthesized and characterized. The effect factors were analyzed in terms of the experiment results. The crystal structures of a new compound of 2-((4-chlorophenylimino)methyl)phenol had been determined by X-ray.On the other hand, the condensation reaction of dialdehyde and diamine was studied. A ligand and a compound had been synthesized and characterized. The crystal structure of a new complex of CuCl4(H2tn) had been determined by X-ray. The synthesis reaction mechanisms of the ligand and complex were presumed.Three sulf-schiff bases, 1,1 '-bisacetylferrocene condensed with thiosemicarbazide(L1) 5-nithrosalicylaldehyde condensed with 4-methyl-thiosemicarbazide(L2) and 5-nithrosalicylaldehyde condensed with thiosemicarbazide(L3), had been synthesized and characterized. The crystal structure of a new compound L2 had been determined by X-ray. These three Sulf- Schiff bases were used to synthesize the complexes with transition metal ions(Mn2+ Fe3+ Co2+ Ni2+ Cu2+ Zn2+), and twenty complexes are obtained. Ni(L1)(ClO4)2 [Ni2(L1)(CH3COO)4] 4H2O Cu(L1) , Zn(L1) Mn2(L1)(CH3COO)4 , [Co2(L1)(CH3COO4)]6H2O [Fe(L1)(ClO4)2] H2O[Ni(L1)Cl2] 3H2O [Co(L1)Cl2] H2O Ni(L1)(NO3)2 [Fe(L1) (NO3)2] H2O Zn(L1) (NO3)2, Zn(L1)Br2, [Cu(L2)]Cl2, [Zn(L2)2]Cl2 [Co(L2)2]Cl2 H2O, [Cu(L3)2]Cl2, [Zn(L3)]Cl2 [Co(L3)2]Clr3H2O[Ni(L3)2]Cl2 2H2O.These complexes were all determined by elemental analysis, infrared spectra, UV spectra. The properties of these compounds were forecasted by experiment facts.In this paper, two sorts of different sulf-schiff bases, which contain nitryl and ferrocene, were also synthesized. The antibacterial activity of the complexes, formed by the sulf-schiff base with transition metal, was tested for. The results of antibacterial activity were analyzed and compared.
