This paper is based on the reconstructed project of DaLian steel company 10# electric arc furnace(EAF). The history, technics, equipment and control system development of EAF are summarized according to a great deal of documentation. Taking 10# EAF as example, the structure, function, hardware and software configuration of EAF computer control system are introduced.In the case of understanding pole controller development, analyze the influence of pole adjust equipment and control strategy on pole controller performance. According to the character of EAF, after thinking the advantage and disadvantage of constant-current control and constant-impedance control, design a current-compensation controller having the advantage of constant-current control and constant-impedance control.After analyzing the electric running character of EAF, introduce the basic method how to set rational work current of EAF, analyze the importance of selecting reactor and the relation between reactance selecting and work current setting, establish the optimal model about reactance selecting. At last on the basis of practice data obtained from the DaLian steel factory 10# EAF, show the whole process how to obtain the result of optimal model in detail, establish the optimal power supply strategy. Comparing with the experiential power supply strategy, the optimal power supply strategies have many advantages such as low power consumption and high arc stability.
