With the development of modern manufacturing industry, the requisition for manufacturing company is much higher. In order to tackle the fierce market competition today, enterprises must develop the products in according to the market demand in a short time, and shorten the development and manufacture life cycle of the products. This research tries to combine various kinds of computer technology based on the concept of virtual manufacturing, and tries to determine the optimized cutting parameter more accurately and scientifically than before.The first work of this study is establishing the model of the insert and the workpiece for the simulation. The insert should be modeled according to the GB with the help of Pro/E.. Then the model should be inputted into the FEM software Deform3D, in which this study simulate the process of cutting and get the three-dimensional force in order to different cutting process. Through the contrast between the cutting test and cutting simulation, it can conclude that if the precise model and the exact simulation boundary is constructed, then it could get the good results of the cutting simulation with the help of Deform3D.Base on the experimental design, we get the data of cutting force in the simulation. Though the technique of linear regression, the metamodel should be built. At the same time, the mathematic model is established to optimize the process of the cast-iron camshafts. The optimized process is reached after solving the mathematic model with Genetic Algorithms. In the last, an interface system of regression analysis and optimization base on the code Matlab is built up. In doing so,it can reduce the risk in the product's development, increase economic efficiency.For the development of the computer technique, the application of the virtual manufacturing is more wider. But the most of application is focused on the development of the product, little on the process of manufacture. Appling the virtual manufacturing technique in the manufacture of camshaft, we obtain the optimized process parameter after the work of simulation and optimization.
