With the development of computer technology, CAD/CAM system has been widely used in manufacture engineering, which leads an essential revolution of product design and manufacture. Nowadays many integrated CAD/CAM systems available, such as UG, PRO/E, etc. are powerful but expensive unexceptionally. And the independent systems of CAD and CAM are often adopted in most of the enterprises, whose obvious weakness is that the automatic information communication among the systems cannot be realized. This paper mainly studies the automation extraction method of 2D primary elements and the NC programming system used in punching process on steel plate. Based on the AutoCAD platform , the secondary development of AutoCAD R14 is carried out by AutoLisp tool. The primary elements of AutoCAD drawing , such as plane contours and hole series, can be extracted automatically. The extracted hole-series can be used to obtain the NC process programs. So that the reliability and accuracy of the data can be ensured and the programming efficiency can be improved as well.At the same time the software designing which can realize the two-axis NC system of hydraulic punching machine has been finished based on the platform of VisualBasic6.0 ,combining Mitsubishi positioning module and YASCAWA Σ-11 servo system. And the functions such asmanagement of NC programme and the drawing of steel type the system communication, system monitor, trouble determine, positioning of servo system and the machine controlling has been finished too.The system is verified by manufacturing the steel plates. It is shown that the system is available for engineering practice with fine stability, convenient operations and friendly interface.
