It is always a question for textile and fashion engineering professionals to make a quick and all-around evaluation of the fabric handle. In this paper , we use FAST to test the mechanical performance of the light worsted fabric and washable velvet fabric. Make use of the Matlab software to program the principal factor analysis and set up the objective evaluation system respectively, which can express the handle characters totally and objectively. The score of each factor and synthesis are ranked by calculation. We draw the numerical range of the two categories about the FAST testing index, and make sure of the average position and standard deviation, which can judge if the fabric processes the handle character and the superior of fabric handle.The evaluation index of foreign wool fabric in turn is weft tensile elastic, think and heavy performance, stiffness, warp tensile elastic, and size stability; the home wool fabric is think and heavy performance, weft tensile elastic, warp tensile elastic, size stability and stiffness; the washable velvet fabric is weft tensile elastic, light performance, warp tensile elastic, and softness.The study shows that the handle evaluation is effective by principal factor analysis. The result is of practical use for the clothing factory to choose appropriate fabric and the designer to develop products.
