As one of the three elements of apparel, fabrics can influence not only the style and characteristics, but also the modeling of garment. Therefore, the master of the handle characteristics of various fabrics, and establishment of evaluation system of apparel fabrics'style and properties is very necessary.29 cotton fabrics popular in current market and 30 typical light weight fabrics with fibriia like handle were selected as specimens in this paper. The subjective, objective and physiological assessment was respectively and combined applied to systematic evaluate and analyze the handle characters of the two types of fabrics. The influences of material category, the yarn count, the structure of yarn, density and other factors to fabric handle were explored. The relationship between roughness, softness of fabric and human physiology was also initially studied in this paper.The following conclusions can be obtained: the light plain cotton weave fabrics with fine yarn and high density have good regularity, comfortable skin sense, well wrinkled resistant and good fullness. On the basis of this, reduce the density of fabric, drape and softness properties will be improved, but crease resistance will be worse. Bamboo cotton yarn fabric has better shari. Satin fabric with the finest yarn and highest density was the smoothest, softest, most comfortable and with largest degree of drape. Twill fabric had the best shari and plain weave fabric was the stiffest. The samples contained Tencel and viscose fibers were more comfortable, softer, smoother, and had better degree of drape than that of pure cotton and cotton/spandex samples. Thin fibriia fiber fabrics had poor elasticity. Pure linen, ramie and pure bamboo fabrics were stiffer and harder than that of pure polyester fabric and fabrics interweaved by linen with cotton and silk, however, the latter had better draping property.The latency of P300 was picked-up by using NDI-200 electrical nerve detector. There was good correlation between the latency of P300 and the softness of cotton fabrics and the roughness of fibriia like handle fabrics were attained by subjective and objective evaluation respectively. Soft fabrics lengthen the time of human brain's initial cognitive process, in other words, the latencies of P300 was long, rough fabric with short latencies of P300 reverse to soft fabrics.Under the same conditions, using fingertips to distinguish roughness of fabrics was more precise than using medial wrist.
