This paper analyses and compares the existing image processing methods of X-ray detection on the breaks of mighty wire-core adhesive tape, the running condition of which is correlated with the benefit and safety of coal mines, and endeavours to develop a better one, adopting the methods of image transformation, image strengthening, image reversion and binary image processing, on the basis of the regularity of X-ray images and the character of adhesive tape. A on-line processing system of X-ray images on the breaks of adhesive tape is developed in this paper, and the system, programming with VB6.0 and Windows XP, can be used to estimate the security ofadhesive tape and prevent accidents through image collection, image manipulation and output of the distances between breaks on the wire-core.
