With the development of technologies for the modern industrial products, the application of plastic products in fields such as the automobile, electron, household appliances, machinery, building, etc. is more and more extensive. Especially the plastic products shaped by injection molding account for a considerable proportion in all kinds of products. Molding products are indispensable to mould, and their precisions and qualities are determined by the qualities of mould design and manufacture. Under the environment of the competition market for globalization, how to improve the qualities of mould design and manufacture has been the main content of the mould technical development field all the time. The application of CAD/CAM technology can improve the mould design and manufacture by a large margin. But there are obvious deficiencies in intellectuality in the current CAD system, studying the automatic and intelligent technology of mould design process is significant to the mould technology overall level.The molding part is an important content in the mould structural design, and it is also one of the key contents of mould CAD technical research. The investigation of automatic and intelligent technology and method is significant to improve the level of mould CAD engineering and the mold design qualities and efficiencies.Using AutoCAD2002 as the platform and VC +++6.0, SQL Server2000 and ObjectARX as developing instruments, this paper studies the automatic generation technology for injection molding parts according to widely analyzing the approaches and characteristics of them with the combinative method based on feature and CBR.The plastic product model is the primary foundation for the molding part . In order to meet the reasoning requirements that the molding part is automatically designed, this paper adopts oriented-object technology, database technology to separately show and store the design knowledge. Through the concrete methods such as feature modeling, choosing parting surface, mending undercuts on the surface and building fictitious cavity, this paper realizes the modeling for plastic parts and the automatic generation of molding parts.The entire structure frame of the automatic generation system for molding parts, the relevant function modules and the case database are all designed. In the last part, a plastic part of square flowerpot is used to explain the process and methods. And the result of the instance indicates that the operation procedure of this system is simple, the performance is reliable to run, and it can offer effective references for the intelligent and automatic design of the mould.
