TI worm drive is the drive style consisted of involute helical gear and hourglassworm enveloped by the gear. A study on key technique of manufacturing for TI wormdrive is significant in theory and valuable in practice for developing a kind of wormreducer with high efficiency and heavy load capacity. The key equipments ofaccurately grinding for TI worm and the processing method for TI worm are mainlyinvestigated and designed in this dissertation. The effects which the processing errorsand the installation errors have on TI worm drive are systematically researched also.The content of this dissertation is as follows:According to the equations of profile curves of abrasive wheel for grinding TIworm, the basic principle of dressing abrasive wheel for TI worm is analyzed andthe abrasive dresser for TI worm is studied and designed.The method of accurately grinding TI worm is studied. The design scheme of thegrinding unit for accurately grinding TI worm is presented.The manufacturing engineering of TI worm is designed. The modification schemeof finish machining on existing facilities and the process scheme of milling andabrasive machining on hobbing-machine is systematically presented.On the premise of considering the processing errors, a mathematical model of thesingle-enveloping TI worm drive is set up and the equations related tosingle-enveloping TI worm are deduced. These equations include meshing functions,meshing equations, tooth flank equations of TI worm. A mathematical model of thesingle-enveloping TI worm drive is built considering the processing errors and theinstallation errors at the same time.With the three-dimensional molding technique and the method of tooth flankscontacting in simulation, the status of the tooth flanks contact of the single-envelopingTI worm drive including the processing errors and the installation errors is studiedconsidering the boundary conditions. The rules of the processing errors influencing ontooth flanks meshing contact and of the processing errors and the installation errorstogether on that are obtained. The experimental researchs of the meshing performancefor TI worm drive are carried .
