Crude-oil distillation units have one of the largest expenditure engergy 25~30% in the petroleum refineries. The coking residue processing unit is a small-scale oil distillation system,whose expenditure of energy is 4~5 times higher than the ordinary crude-oil distillations. Therefore, it is fundamental to explore energy-saving techniques for the refineries. Based on the analysis of the coking residue precess unit in JinZhou petroleum company, it is found out that the bottleneck is due to the demulsifier used . This dissertation firstly optimized the demulsifying agent and the corresponding optimal operation conditions, and the pratical application verified the feasibility of the improved operation. Secondly the atmospheric pressure kiln was redesigned to supplement the convection chamber in order to decrease the temperature of the effluent air. Finally the heat exchanger network was redesigned to increase the outlet temperature of the crude oil. All these obtained techuiques have been proved to ameliorate the energy-saving of the refinery.
