The atomization of liquid is of theoretical importance and has been widely usedin engineering. Combined with the technical problems existing in the painting process,the atomization mechanism of high speed spinning bell electrostatic spraying isinvestigated, and the factors which influence the quality of atomization are analyzedtoo. On the basis of hydrostatics and continuity equation, the movement mechanismof paint inside the spinning bell is studied, and its mathematical model is set up. Centrifugal force and electrostatic atomization are two kinds of high speedspinning bell electrostatic spraying. The spinning speed of the bell and theintensity in the static electricity field(voltage, gap between electrodes) have thelargest influence on the atomization, while the diameter,conical angel of the belland the density of liquid, viscosity of liquid and the transferring of paint have lessinfluence. A mathematical model of pigments which are not well distributed in the coating,or separated by the painting liquid under the huge centrifugal force during thespraying is set up. The difference of the density between the pigment ingredients and painting liquidis the prerequisite, that is the inner drive, the force field is the exterior one. Thediameter of the pigment particle,the painting viscosity,the transferring and thegeometry parameter (diameter, conical angel ) have great influence on them.Atomization theory has been proved is reasonable and correct by simulationresults and the engineering practice.Through the analysis about atomization mechanism of electrostatic spraying ofhigh speed spinning bell and factors which influence the quality of atomization, thethesis provides theoretical basis for the controlled parameter of the best installationduring the productive process to solve the practical problems. It has a greatimportance to the research as well as production of modern paint equipment, to thedomains of the paint production and chemical engineering,spray drying etc.
