The technology of physical simulation of NC machining has been the key research subject in the Virtual Manufacturing field in recent years. With the physical simulation technology, the machining quality of parts could be predicted during the course of designing, and the validity of technological design could be evaluated. And then we can provide the technical supports, for optimizing the craft scheme, improving the machining precision and reducing the manufacturing cost. Accuracy prediction is one of the kernel technologies of physical simulation of NC machining. Its main function is to evaluate the machining quality of parts using virtual measurement method.In this paper, the technology of machining accuracy prediction was deep researched. The overall design, method and key technology for achieving the accuracy prediction system is put forward; the communication interface of Virtual Machining System and Accuracy Prediction System is carried out; various kinds of theory and algorithm for errors evaluation are studied; by using MATLAB optimization toolbox, the evaluation of work-piece quality related to geometry is achieved, such as form accuracy, position accuracy and surface roughness etc. Based on the above key technology research and finite element method, an accuracy prediction system (APS) for physical simulation of NC machining process is developed, and moreover, combining with practical machining of the typical parts of some kind of radar, we verify the theory and method discussed by this paper.
