Recently some new fibers with high hygroscopicity have been developed, such as Soybean, Modal, Richel etc. Soybean is early developed and taken into industrial production in our county. Such regenerative protein or cellulose fibers will be widely used in textiles with their rich resources, sustainability and no harm for environments. Many studies on such new fibers mainly focus on the mechanical, dyeing properties and new products developing of these fiber and fabrics, seldom refers to its actual clothing comfort. So, the clothing comfort of such new fabrics with high absorbent quality represented by soybean protein fabric was emphatically studied under simulating actual wearing conditions.Subjective evaluation and objective measurement are both adopted so as to carry a comprehensive evaluation of comfort performance. During wear trials the exterior temperature of clothes, heart beating, blood pressure, and subjective evaluation values were respectively recorded bystandard instruments. And the basic properties of the fabric and thermal insulation of clothes were measured by basic experimental equipments.Firstly, the validity of subjective evaluation was proved by using statistic method of Kendall—w, and Hierarchical clustering was used to classify the test garments: with high absorbent quality or without. Secondly, Least Significant Difference method of ANOVA was adopted to analyze the differences of exterior temperature and subjective evaluation values of testing clothes given by all participants. The comfort properties of new absorbent fabric were compared with cotton, polyester fabric and among themselves. Thirdly, the relationship between objective measured values and individual sensitive perceptions were investigated with Correlation and Factor Analysis, and two components: thermal and damp component and tactile component were selected to develop a mathematical model which can predict wearer's comfort from individual sensitive perceptions. Finally, the relationships among exterior temperature, human sensitive perceptions and physical properties of fabric, thermal insulation of clothes and heart beating, blood pressure were studied. A better relativity between exterior temperature and sensitive perceptions such as thermal, stuffiness and dampness were found in this study.A new instrument-Thermal Imaging Camera was applied to research the exterior temperature. And the relationships among exteriortemperature, human perception and heart beating, blood pressure were discussed in this paper, which is a practical attempt of theory research on clothing comfort.Guan Wen-jing (Fashion design and engineering) Supervised by Li Jun...
