The main goal of environmental protection is to protect the health of mankind and to keep sustainable development of human society. Health risk assessment (HRA) is an important method to quantitatively describe the relationship between pollution and human health. HRA can offer scientific evaluation about contamination's damage to human health and dependable warrant for pollution management and pollution repair.A relatively integrated HRA example about a typical contamination area is presented in this paper and the risks from drinking water ingestion, indoor inhalation and shower water dermal contact were calculated. This assessment considered the natural attenuation of the organic contaminants and drinking habit of Chinese people;established solute transport model by Visual MODFLOW to forecast the concentration and calculate life-time risk;analyzed the risk composing of serious areas;compared difference between HRA and water quality assessment;discussed important parameters' influence for assessment result. The main results of the study are as follows:1 The groundwater of research area is polluted by TCM, CT, TCE, PCE. The main source of pollution maybe plant 4 and plant 5;2 The cancer risk which was calculated according to the testing in 2002 and 2005 is high;3 In this area, the risk coming from water ingestion and indoor inhalation is higher than shower water dermal contact;the risk caused by TCE and PCE is higher than that of TCM and CT;4 The main contaminations of the typical area are volatiles, drinking boiled water can reduce water ingestion risk remarkable;enhancing indoor air circulating can reduce indoor inhalation risk remarkably;5 According to solute transport model, TCE and PCE pollution plumes havebeen moveing to the east, the contamination areas are extending, but the concentration peaks are falling. The cancer risk of 4 points(A442, A457, B230, B408) are higher than 5.0×10-5/a, which is the recommend value of ICRP. Living water source of those areas should be changed.
