In this article an acidic sol was prepared by the TEOS (tetraethoxysilane) and GPTMS (glycidylpropyloxytrimethoxysilane) based on the principle of the sol-gel technology. It can form film on the surface of fiber under being heated and can combine inorganic antibacterial ingredients with cotton fiber. The results showed that the textiles treated by sol containing inorganic ingredients had good anti-bacterial capability and endurance. Additionally, the influence on the stability of sol-gel of different facts was studied, such as temperature, pH value, additive, amount of water and solvent, etc, and the chemical structure of sol-gel also analyzed by FT-IR.In this article, silver nitrate, copper nitrate, zinc nitrate were used for the preparation of single-ingredient, two-ingredient, three-ingredient antibacterial sol, the antibacterial sol was utilized to endue cotton fabrics with enduring antibacterial property;the optimal parameter of finishing process was confirmed by changing antibacterial dosage, pH, pre-curing and curing temperature;FT-IR was also used to analyze the structure of cotton fabrics finished by antibacterial sol.The synergistic effect of different ingredient was also studied. Thereinto, the bacterial reduction rate of single-ingredient sol containing silver nitrate was highest;the synergistic effect of sol containing silver nitrate and copper nitrate in two-ingredients sol was superior;the synergistic effect of three-ingredient sol was more remarkable. The antibacterial experiment showed that the textiles treated by inorganic ingredient and sol which include reactive groups not only had superior antibacterial capability, but also endured laundering. After ten times laundering, the bacterial reduction rate on cotton fabrics was still about 80%.
