The opening NC(numerical control) system based on motion controller has flexible hardware architecture, it is a new control system with modularized, reconstructed and extensional features and can respond the cutting command rapidly. It has became inevitable trend of NC technology development and has represented the direction of NC technology development.Combining with the motion controller and PC machine, A series of research related to opening NC system are carried out as follows:(1) Hardware and software architecture of opening NC milling machine system are explored;(2) Motion control of milling machine is studied. The motion control includes three axies control which is carried out by use of motion controller and spindle motion control, The spindle motion control includes spindle's starting and stoping control and segmented speed regulation, they are both carried out by use of I/O interface.(3) NC program compiling and processing methods are studied, the problem of Cutter radius compensation is mainly discussed, in the end, the NC program is converted to the data which can be used directly to control milling machine motion.(4) Research on processing simulation including tool motion track simulation and workpiece material removal simulation of milling machine is carried out. Int this part, the algorithm of workpiece material removal simulation is designed.Based on these researches above, related modules of opening numerical control milling system are developed and the modules are integrated, at last, an opening NC milling system with complete function is built.
