Among cutting techniques, the production and processing of cutting tool is very significant to the efficiency and quality of mechanic processing, and key to the development of cutting technique. On behalf of superhard cutting tool, PCD cutting tool can adapt to modern cutting technique's requests of high cutting speed, long lifespan and low machining cost. PCD cutting tool is applied in all areas of mechanic processing and becomes more and more important, especially in auto industry. With the quick development of auto industry and the improvement of independent research ability, the demand of PCD tool produced domestically will be urgent. It has practical meaning for mechanic industry and national economy to improve the manufacture and application technology of PCD cutting tool.Because of PCD material's superhardness and good wear-resistance, it is very ideal as cutting tool material. On the other hand, its superhardness and high wear-resistance make it difficult to be grinded with the high grinding cost and low grinding efficiency, the quality of grinding can't be ensured and the grinding mechanism is very complex. To solve these problems, this thesis did a lot of researches on the grinding mechanism of PCD cutting tool and the influences of parameters on grinding quality and efficiency. Firstly, using diamond wheels bonded by metal, resin and ceramic respectively, experiments about the influence of wheel speed, wheel swing frequency and coolant on grinding surface quality was done and the reason why parameters can influence the grinding surface roughness was deeply analyzed. Secondly, through comparative experiment about grinding efficiency of diamond wheels with different bonds and observing the SEM picture of blade and flank surface of PCD tool grinded by diamond wheel with different bond, the grinding mechanism was studied.PCD cutter's good characteristics make its cutting rule different with other normal cutter. PCD cutter's flank surface can press and polish the machining surface and the outstanding phenomenon will appear. Thus the model of PCD cutting tool metal was established, and aluminum alloy cutting experiment was done to study the influence of grinding quality on machining surface and cutting tool's life. In addition, the influence of cutting parameters on cutting surface quality was studied when PCD tool cutting aluminum alloy.
