At present, Aerobic treatment is widely used in Urban Domestic Sewage treatment, such as Activated sludge process, Oxidation ditch and SBR etc. But the expenditure of this treatment is very high, which is not suitable for our developing country suffering from the capital. This paper presents a treatment method of Up-flow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket which has the characters of low cost, low energy demand and simply management and suits our country townish wastewater treatment in southward. And some experiments on the low concentration domestic sewage with UASB have been carried out.The content of the study includes the performance of UASB for domestic sewage treatment and the effects of the operation parameters. The result indicates that the UASB can start quickly, work stably and have good removal effect of organic matter with small sludge yield. Meanwhile, UASB has excellent ability of bearing high impact loads. At the same time the result also shows that under the normal temperature, the hydraulic retention time (HRT) is 4.3h, the removal efficiencies of CODcr. SCODcr and suspended solids are found to be 59.63~82.23%, 58.45~79.52%, 74.29~86.96%, CODcr of the effluent is less than 120mg/L, which is measured with second class of GB8978-1996, and SS is less than 20 mg/L, arriving at 1st class.Through the experiment, essential operation parameters and control conditions are given to directe the industrial application of UASB technology when used in wastewater treatment under moderate temperature conditions in the South of China.
