Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) is a new and special engineering material which has a lot of excellent properties such as: high temperature resistant (resisting quality) and concentrated base resistant. It has been one of the most popular special engineering materials in the world and will have a bright future. But PPS has its own defects, for example the bad property of hydrophilic. So in this paper we focus on the research of modification of property of PPS non-woven by graft copolymerization.First, we used low temperature plasma treatment to modify the hydrophilic property of PPS non-woven by graft copolymerization. The effects of various graft conditions on graft reaction and grafting rate were investigated in details by analysis of SEM, the electronically strength analysis apparatus of fabric and the property of concentrated base resistant testing. The conditions of the polyphenylene sulfide non-woven surface graft reaction could be optimized by the following processing conditions: 120s of plasma treatment time, 50W of plasma power, 1.5cm of space between electrodes, 30%(w/w) of monomer concentration, 50 °C of temperature of graft polymerization.Second, we modified the hydrophilic property of PPS non-woven by microwave radicalization.Contact angle, SEM, the electronically strength analysis apparatus of fabric and the property of concentrated base resistant testing have been used to characterize the properties of grafted PPS and the effect of microwave radicalization power, microwave radicalization time, marinating time and monomer concentration on the hydrophilic property of PPS are illustrated in detail. The results show that concact angle of PPS has decrease. And the hydrophilic property of PPS non-woven has been improved.
