Supported by the National Basic Research Program of China (973), the study on flashover of indoor gas fire was achieved with the method of numerical simulation and experiment. The definition of gaseous flashover was difined by the way of pressure and temperature and the relation of the parameter of the time was conformed.In this paper, a physical model was founded from the real fire scene. Then, the process of leakage and combustion of the indoor fuel gas was simulated by FLUENT6.1 software and the simulation of empty room and blocked room was accomplished. At last, the experimental system of fire combustion was founded based on the simplified model.A great deal of data, gotten from the numerical simulation, was analyzed in this paper, and several conclusions were found as following. The first, the developing process of gaseous fire can be dwvided into five period, ignition, developing, flashover, blooming, extinguishing, and in the flashover period, the time of the maximum grads in the moment of temperature was becoming high corresponded to the time of the second maximum of pressure.Second, analysis of the parameter was accomplished.Third, in the developing period, a sphericity model was set up to simulated the combustion zone.From the data we gotten, the relation of the fire spreading speed and the radius of the sphericity was exponent.Verified by the experiments, a conclusion was gained that the numerical simulation results well agree with the experiment which mean that study on the gaseous fire with the numerical simulation method was satisfying.
