3S technologies which represent Geographic Information System, Remote Sensing and Global Position System are becoming a kind of new powerful methodology in ecological planning. Ecosystem features can be represented in digital forms which make the ecological information acquisition, data analysis, decision making become more convenient and precise.The organization and processing of basic data in ecological planning based on the traditional theory of ecological planning were involved, and it focused on examples to discuss the key methods and application of 3S technologies in ecological planning and management, the conclusions of this paper includes:(1) The visualization of Hangzhou ecological planning. Ecological thematic mapping and analyzing techniques supported by GIS and RS technology were discussed. The techniques including texture mapping, illumination models, image processing which were used in landscape visualization were also discussed. A work frame of ecological mapping including vector image input, remote sensing analysis, thematic overlay, map decoration and image layer classification was described, and also a technical work flow of landscape modeling which can be applied with large-scaled visual geographic database was constituted.(2)The evaluation of Vegetation Eco-Service value for Hangzhou City. The value of ecosystem services in Hangzhou city based on the CITYGREEN model was assessed. The urban vegetation eco-service value as well as the affection of land use/cover change (LUCC) and economical development to it were calculated with LUCC and distribution of vegetation information of LANDSET TM data. The results showed that suitable adjustment of land-use pattern coordinated the relationship between urban economic development and function of urban ecosystem, and achieved higher eco-system service efficiency of land utilization.(3) The constitution and analysis of Organochlorine Pesticide Pollution spatial data and it's risk assessment. The constitution of digital spatial data was studied. The interpolation and overlay analysis were conducted based on the data, the results of space-interpolation based respectively on Inverse Distance Weighted (IDW) method and Kriging method were evaluated according to statistical description. At last. The Hakanson ecological risk index (RI) method was introduced to calculate the special distribution data of risk index according to the interpolation data. The method and work frame of quantitatively defining potential pesticide pollution ecological risks was determined and a series of risk distribution maps were produced in the end.
