The Open architecture NC system has some advantages such as logic independence of the module, interface standardization, flexibility and portability. It meets the request of Variety in manufacturing industry and becomes the main trend of the development of NC system.Taking NC lathe system as an object, the thesis focus on the structure of Open architecture NC system and researches the achievement of auxiliary function of NC lathe system based on PLC. The main contents are as followed:1) Design the main scheme of Open architecture NC lathe system based on PLC. Introduce the platforms of the software and hardware system, system structure, key techniques and so on. Make plans of system function, which focuses on the communication between PLC and system.2) The control principle of step motor is exposed, drive control of feed system is carried out by use of motion controller, meanwhile, dot motion control of step motor is also carried out by use of PLC.3) Achieve the auxiliary function of Open architecture NC lathe system based on PLC, which includes speed setting of axis, automatic control of cool liquid, chuck control, taistock motion and automatic change of cutter.4) Achieve the modules of the auxiliary control system. Design electric control system for Open architecture NC lathe system, which uses PLC as a key method to simplify the electric circuits of common auxiliary control.5) Make a control panel for Open architecture NC lathe system based on PLC and design its hardware and software control modules.6) Finally, take C616A common lathe as an example to introduce the transformation process of NC lathe by using this auxiliary system.As a result, the project achieves the module of auxiliary function to carry out a complete Open architecture NC lathe system.
