Numerical control technology is the key of manufacturing automatic. With rapiddevelopment of computer, communication and network, open numerical control system hasbeen approved by more and more manufacturers and users, which also should be flexible andlow-cost. Furthermore, the open numerical control system has become the hotspot of researc hof numerical control nowadays, and the main development trend of numerical controltechnology in the future.The paper does analysis and research deeply about CNC system and several key issues oftwin-turret vertical lathe control system. I t also has made a design of experimental developmentplatform accordingly. The platform is composed of two unit of two-axes linkage opennumerical control servo system, which can be operated independently. And the system isdesigned by Window XP as platfo rm, by VC++ 6.0 as main tool and by MFC as software frame.I t develops the open numerical control system software on PC, which is faced to objecttechnology and modularization and realized G-code of ISO format reading, editing, translatingand checking out. During G-code translating, the system can display quantit y, reason andposition of error so that convenient to programmers checking out the G-code. Meanwhile, thesystem provides X-Y, Y-Z, Z-X planes of machining tool path imitating to numerical controlprocess file, and also carries out the real time display f or machining tool path so that convenientto programmers better forecasting and inspecting the machining tool path. By making use ofmultithreading, we try to solve the system's real time responding and control, and implement thesystem's multitask disposal concurrently.At the end of the paper, in order to satisfying the machine tool manufacturers'and endusers'requirements for numerical control system development, it concretely developed opennumerical control system on the basis of movement control block, and supply a collocating system for users, which is able to build and customize numerical control system efficiently.Besides, for the purpose of the system's maintenance and upgrade, we also supply source-code'smotion control driver programs.
