Large mining excavator is the main equipment when exploitingstrip mine. It can achieve completely mechanization. It has thecharacteristic of high automatization, good property of environmentalprotection, the efficiency of excavation is high, and progress is rapid,quality is reliable,and maneuverability is good. According to new theplanning and deployment of our country,we will construct and extendsome big coal mine,copper ore and iron ore,this show that we will needmany bigger excavators.The swing mechanism is the important constituent of anexcavator.When an excavator works,the time of the swing mechanismworks occupy 65%~75% of it.So the performance of the swingmechanism has an important effect on the performance of anexcavator.Because these,it becomes very obvious that the analysis ofdynamics to the swing mechanism has important value.In a general way, an excavator has two suits of swingmechanism.They are disposed symmetrically on the two sides of theswing platform of an excavator.When a company became to design a new model of excavator,The large mining excavator,an argumentation to the project of thelayput of the swing mechanism appeared,someone discussed that thetwo suit of swing mechanism can be disposed at one side of the swingflatform.Although they carried on the project which disposed the twosuits of swing mechanism symmetrically on the two sides of theflatform at last,the doubt remained. In this paper,I will study thedoubt. .The paper recurs to the software of PRO/E to design the models ofthe swing mechanism and the large mining excavator.Then I carried themodels to ADAMS by using the software of Mech/Pro.Owing to thecomplexity of the model of the whole large mining excavator,it willconsume too much resource of the computer when emulation is carriedon.So I predigested the model and got hold of an simple model,theparameter of the original was schlepped into the simple model.The swing mechanism is composed mainly of gears.So thedynamic characteristic is the emphases that we must pay attentionto.The joints ADAMS provid contain gear joint,but it simply define aathletic nexus and can not reflect the real cource that the gears drive.Inthis paper ,I recurred to the contact force to emulate the whole courcethe gears drive.The gears must be assembled to a crumb when inPRO/E,then in ADAMS defined the contact force type.Then I definedthe other joints according to the actual position.Then carry on thekinetic analysis according to the most critical position that theexcavator swings when it is fully loaded.Thus the dynamic contactingforce was got hold of. Based on the result, I can judge of the twoprojects and educe the conclusion that the project which disposed thetwo suits of swing mechanism symmetrically on the two sides of theflatform is better.At last, this paper go along finite element analysis to the swingshaft. It's intrinsic frequency was obtained and the paper checked theintensity of the shaft.In this paper, getting results and methods for the swingmechanism of an excavator using dynamics simulation technique,improving calculated accuracy.efficiency, reducing product designcycle,improving product quality and reliability,consequently can bringobvious economic benefit.
