With the market of 21 century marching towards globalization, enterprise management environment is changing continuously and unforeseeable. At the same time the demands of products are more personalized. Therefore the future market competition has put forward higher requirements to enterprise. CAD and CAM technology has steped gradually into maturation and commercialization, also the computer imitation technology is more and more used in manufacturing industry. Pro/ENGINEER is widely used in industrial community as the automatic design software of new generation, because it integrates design, machining process and NC codes generation into unified platform and has the stronger design function and processing function.This article takes the sheet metal parts as the research object, and develops the user-defined sheet metal parts' system based on Pro/ENGINEER. The system takes Visual C++ 6.0 and Pro/TOOLKIT as the developing tools, establishes the simple, convenient and friendly interfaces between person and computer, realizes the numerical control codes' automatic generation of sheet metal parts by transfering the developed interface, enhances design efficiency, reduces the production cycle. The main contents of this article are as follows:1 , Summarizing the domestic and foreign development present situation of sheet metal parts' CAD/CAM system, introducing the automatic programming history, and analyzing this topic research goal and research significance.2, Researching the Pro/NC module in details, and introducing the basis theory knowledge of the system development, including the Pro/ENGINEER redevelopment tool, namely Pro/TOOLKIT, and so on.3, In paper, the whole process and methods of system development are explained in details, including the dialogue building, the parameters' obtaining and modifying, the model modifying and regeneration, the drawing generation and dimension show, and so on, moreover, developing the post-processing interface between Pro/ENGINEER and CJK6032B type of Huazhong numerical control lathe.4, The paper explains that how to operate the software in details, and carries on the demonstration by the example way.
