In this paper, a modern design theory and method for finite element analysis is adopted on the basis of the research on the frame structure of the rolling mill, for satisfying use demand, exerting character and improving the intensity and rigidity of frame structure. Through finite element method analysis and optimum design, the theoretical basis and reference data is provided for the design of frame structure, roller and axletree.Firstly, based on the M.D formula, FORTRAN language is used to compile program. The model is used to calculate volume rolling force of different materials, different spec and different path, analyze rolling force swatch. Also, K-S inspection is used to inspect analysis result and get the normal school result that practice rolling force submit to N (9150, 1762), the 1200 rolling mill load chart is constructed.Secondly, with the help of finite element method software (ANSYS8.1), using average value of load chart as calculate load, the 1200 rolling mill is simulated by the three dimensional finite element method. By simulation design method, the stress and distortion graph of frame structure is gained. The stress, distortion results of every cell and node (displacement) are calculated, its critical location in the frame is determined by means of the analysis results. Finally, based on the three dimensional finite element method, using the stress and distortion results as inhibit condition, the main dimension as design variable and the minimum of frame structure longitudinal distortion value as goal function, the frame structure optimum design has been made. By optimum design, the main geometric dimension parameters of frame structure are determined. The optimized results are compared with each other;the least distortion and stress reduced are obtained with the same condition by using the minimum of node longitudinal distortion value as goal function.
