In recent years, with the rapid development of highway construction, some problems about highway pollution and the impact of the highway on the ecology environment etc. have been increasing quickly. Therefore, what methods could be used to reduce and eliminate environmental pollution to the highway and how to restore the ecological damage are becoming the hot topics. The impact of highway project on construction of the road is identified, predicted, and assessed, and then the measures for removing and minimizing the bad infuence were proposed. The highway construction environmental assessment includes: Social, Ecology, Conservation of water and Soil, Landscape, Atmospheric, as well as noise. Eco-environmental quality assessment is the key content of highway construction project's environmental impact assessment.3S technology as an aided analysis means to comprehensively and systematicly study the ecological environmental quality assessment of the highway construction, which hasn't been used commonly in China. Studying this issue is of strategic important for the coordinate development of highway construction and environmental protection. Using 3S technology as a complementary meaning, the study interpreted the remote sensing image about the land-use types within the 4km on both sides of the highway of Neixiang-Xiping along in Nanyang city of Henan Province by 1:5 million topographic base maps. And then, it certificated the interpreted results from the field investigation. Finally, the quality of the ecological environment was assessed along the highway based on the Nation environment monitoring terminus promulgated "ecological quality evaluation methods" in 2003. From the calculation and analysis, it's shown that regional ecological environment along the road was fine in quality, good in vegetation cover, rich in water resources, very rich in biodiversity. Ecosystem functions were integral, stable and sustainable in development. In the highway construction process, the stability of the entire ecosystem along the highway hasn't been impacted seriously, as long as the necessary environmental protection measures and some ecological rehabilitation measures should be taken.
