An efficient protective material for metal relics was studied in the paper. Volatile rust proofing sieve, vapor inhabitability of mass loss and closed space volatile weight-loss methods were adopted to study many monocomponent volatiles corrosion inhibitors (VCI) . The best VCI was chosen from them. By mixing, the two composite VCIs were made for iron and copper. Composite VCI I is composed of hexamethylene tetramine and other amine-inhibitors A in mass ration 1:1,The inhibition efficiency of composite VCI I is 96.5% for iron relics, Composite VCI II is omposed of benzotriazole (BTA) and other hydroxybenzene W in mass ration 1:1, The inhibition efficiency of composite VCI II is 93.4% for copper relics. The main properties of composite VCIs were tested by using Raman, atomic absorption spectrophotometry, potentiodynamic polarization etc. It is found that these two composite VCIs show better anti-corrosion and water-proof by comparing with blank test. The results of potentiodynamic polarization showed that the composite VCI I was positive one. The inhibition mechanism of composite VCI I was studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results show that the nitrogen element in composite VCI I could accelerate the rust from unstable to stable state. The inhibition mechanism of composite VCI...
