This paper studied the dyeing processes and dyeing properties of naphthoquinone dyes. We adopted the way of the sulfonation to improve their solubility. The post-mordant dyeing method of wool fabric which used environment-friendly mordant such as Fe2+, Fe3+and Al3+ was performed to enhance the dye up-take ratio. The dyeing effect was evaluated by the dye up-take ratio and color fastness.Synthesis and tested dyeing about 6-chloro-5-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone obtained the conclusion. It was found that the recommendatory dyeing process of the 6-chloro-5-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone could be chosen as dyeing concentration 0.75 g/L, pH value 4.0, dyeing temperature 90℃, dyeing time 60 min. Tested dyeing about 7-hydroxy-5-methyl-1,4-naphthoquinone obtained the conclusion. The recommendatory dyeing process of the 7-hydroxy-5-methyl-1,4-naphthoquinone could be chosen as dyeing concentration 0.75 g/L, pH value 3.8, dyeing temperature 95℃, dyeing time 50 min.On the basis of the recommendatory dyeing process, we adopted the way of the sulfonation to improve their solubility. The experimental result certificated that the second way was batter than first in this two sulfonation methods.On the basis of the recommendatory dyeing process, the post-mordant dyeing method of wool fabrics which used environment-friendly mordant such as Fe2+, Fe3+and Al3+was performed. It was found that the three kinds of mordant all could improve the dye up-take ratio.The two kinds of naphthoquinone dyes which were not only direct dyeing but also post-mordant dyeing had outstanding rubbing fastness. The result was shown that the post-mordant dyeing method was better than direct dyeing. The rubbing fastness which used Fe3+as mordant was up to 5 level. The naphthoquinone dye which was increased the link had excellent anti-UV properties. The UPF could reach up to 207.
