The High Pressure Die-Casting (HPDC) technology currently used for producing 468Q aluminium alloy engine cylinder body was analyzed and numerical-simulated, by which the mould filling and solidification were fully understood and the problems existed during 468Q engine cylinder body casting was configured. The optimum processing parameters for producing 468Q engine cylinder body was obtained, which gives an important data for getting the independent intellectual property of the HPDC technology for producing 468Q engine cylinder body.Producing 468Q aluminium alloy engine cylinder body with currently adopted casting technology was simulated using a software "AnyCasting". The results showed that by using current process, the mould filling of cast was smooth and complete, the solidification process was reasonable and the progressive solidification was approximately obtained. The position of defect showed by simulation results were accord with that of the practical cast.The HPDC technology for producing 468Q aluminium alloy engine cylinder body was optimized by orthogonal experimentation of 3 factors and 3 levels, and the effects of three main parameters (point of pouring,velocity of shot and distance of slow/ rapidness shot) on cast quality were investigated. It was found that the trend of shrinkage porosity defects increased slightly with increasing temperature, decreasing velocity of shot and decreasing distance of slow shot. The optimum parameters are: point of pouring 630℃; velocity of shot 3m/s and distance of slow/rapidness shot 630/80mm.The HPDC experiment of 468Q aluminium alloy engine cylinder body was carried out, and the obtained sample was sectioned and observed macroscopically. The results showed that the position of defect was close to that of the stimulated, and the extent of defects abated to certain extent.This paper investigated the simulative process of HPDC production of 468Q aluminium alloy engine cylinder body. The present results establish sound base for producing perfect 468Q engine cylinder body and improving its yield.
