Two parts are included in this thesis. The first part is review, and the second one is research reports. In the first part of this thesis, the basic principle and the progress in the Flow Injection Analysis are reviewed. The analytical application of FIA in recent years and coupling technologies in FIA are also introduced. Based on FIA, we proposed a new pendant drop flow injection system. In the research part, the application of above pendant drop flow injection system is constructed and validated.Flow injection analysis, developed in 1975 by Ruzicka and Hansen of the Technical University of Denmark, is a new analytical technique for sample solutions being effectively dealt with and determined in non-equilibrium state. It made the traditional concept of the "steady-state signal" in analytical chemistry is completely abandoned and a new field of solution analysis chemistry be inaugurated.Flow injection analysis is an attractive technique with broad adaptability, rapidity, less sample consumption, good testing accuracy, and inexpensive equipment. FIA has been coupled with many analytical methods, such as spectroscopic analysis, electrochemical analysis, luminescence analysis, and etc. Flow injection analysis has been applied to almost all fields of chemical analysis, facilitating the automation of analysis methods.Considering of reducing the consumption of regent and sample, increasing analytical frequency and facilitating operation, based on FIA, we designed a pendant liquid drop flow injection technique (PDFI). The sample plug injected in the carrier stream in conventional FI is replaced by the coalescence of sample and reagent drops, which are generated by continuously pumping sample and reagent to the mouths of two separated tubing. As a result, the initial surface intension balances of sample and reagent drops are broken, and the tangential mobility of interfaces promotes penetration of sample into reagent. The use of a pendant drop flow injection system can significantly decrease the sample and reagent consumption, promise high throughput, approach simple automation scheme with the absence of injection vavle. The research report contains four subunits:...
