DuPont Dow chemical company developed the POE (Engage) and EPDM (Nordel IP) with confined geometry configuration catalyst technology (CGCT) and INSITE technology, and these two kinds of new-type thermoplastic polyolefin elastomers had controlled structures and excellent mechanical properties and weather resistance and processability.Using POE (Engage 7380), EPDM (4770R) and PP (K8303) as slected materials, the properties of POE and its blends with PP were studied. The effects of fillers and cross linking agent on the properties of POE blend were investigated. The influence of the blend ratio, filler and same other factors of dynamic vulcanization on mechanical properties, crystalline, morphologies were discussed.The results showed that mechanical and rheological properties of POE developed by CGCT thenology and MAO catalyst as thermoplastic elastomer became worse after filled with calcium carbonate, the hardness enhanced and the resilience reduced. After filled with carbon black, when filled little (<20 phr), carbon black can reinforce POE; Over 20 phr, the tensile strength and elongation at break reduced with the content of carbon black increasing, the 100% stress and hardness increased, and resilience reduced. When filled with paraffin oil, the strength, resilience and hardness reduced, while the elongation at break enhanced.Crosslink destroyed the crystalline region of ethylene, so the mechanical properties of POE declined.The effects of blend ratio and the fillers on properties of POE/PP blends were studied.
