Study On Domino Effects Of Major Accidents

The fire or explosion of one unit can cause a secondary accident in a nearby unit which in turn may trigger a tertiary accident in the modern industry, especially chemical industry. Such phenomena are named domino effect or cascading effect. Generally, domino effect induce usually serious hazard on enterprises and residents. Study on accidents' domino effects is necessary.The dissertation proposes the method of generation of accident scenario by Event tree and Fault tree, starting from major hazards identify. Then amends the model of domino effect's probability and develops Domino-effect computer tool. The dissertation illustrates the tank unit of chemical industry, analyzes its domino effect probability and correlative factors. The conclusion will provide academic foundation for scientific manage of major accidents' domino effect.
