With the development of the steel industry, competition between foreign and native steel enterprises is furious continuously. Now, steel enterprises need more outputs and higher quality, so it needs higher production efficiency and continuous modes of production. Currently, the key point is that the upkeep and accidental time restrict the further development of enterprises. It needs advanced maintenance theory, setting up effectual fault diagnosis and maintenance systems to cut down the cost of upkeep and reduce accidental time, consequently increase operating ratio of equipment, machine hours and outputs.This task is in accordance with the actuality of frequent accidents ( finishers damage 39 times in the year of 2004 ) and high cost of upkeep ( the cost of whole line upkeep is amount to 12,800,000 yuan in the year of 2004 ) in Tang Gang's high speed wire Morgan's finishing rolling unit by setting up on-line accident monitoring system. As the foundation of it, using maintenance theory RCM with the focus is reliability, depending on accident sequences, setting up maintenance system, working out RCM job notes to reach the best maintenance results.This article make a synthetical dissertation for fault diagnosis technology in native and foreign in the aspects of the principle, development and current situation of RCM theory, and make a analysis and research for composition and principle of high speed wire work lines and Morgan's finishing rolling unit. Base on the incessant completing equipment files of finishing rolling unit, it sets up a finishing rolling unit maintenance system bases on RCM theory. Moreover, it makes a technical analysis for breakdown signals obtained by on-line monitoring system, and makes a discussion to the feasibility of maintenance system.
