A consequence of the market's globalization is to make sharp competition, so the manufacturers are needed to possess the strong ability to adapt easily. The market need more multipurpose manufacturing system that fits the middle or small quantities manufacturing and have good flexibility than the large manufacturing system with single function. This direction brings a new conception-the modular, rebuild able and expansible software hardware system, this is the Opening CNC system. The embedded NC in this paper is belong to the Opening CNC. The CNC equipments in this system are developed with the idea of OMAC(Open Modular Architecture Controller) and import the embed system technology at the same time, so the system is strong functions, high dependability and has good opening characteristic and convenience to updated the software. It affords great foundation and precondition for studying more NC technology's complete opening and intelligent control.The research includes: constructing hardware platform, analyzing RTOS, program application, serial communication, NC machining emulator. The part of hardware platform analyzes the common structure characters of embedded system and CNC system, and then studies the advantages of S698M, an 32-bit MCU with high performance, based on which the modular structure of an embedded CNC hardware platform with serial communication and online debug. In the designing process of embedded RTOS, the architecture, running principle and programming model are analyzed deeply. The application program by the criterion of the RTEMS, mostly implement commonly G code function. Finally, the application was validated by serial communication module and simulator.
