The thesis analyzes the characteristic of the Open-Architecture CNC system, discusses the advantages and disadvantages of the software platform in current CNC system, proposes the blue print that the Embedded RTOS based Open-Architecture CNC system. From the time that Windows CE 3.0 came into the market, it was successfully applied in various industrial automation equipments because of the improved real-time performance. But until now there is no application example in the CNC machine tool controller market. This paper disserts the key techniques in Windows CE based Open-Architecture CNC system.The paper illustrates the phylogeny of Windows CE and investigates its system architecture, introduces its develop tool and process. Then analyzes the software architectures of most existing CNC systems, analyzes the advantages of choosing Windows CE as the software platform and puts forward the software architecture of Open-Architecture CNC system. The real-time performance and interrupt principle is particularly emphasized and given the implementations in CNC system. The concept of device driver is introduced. The characteristic of Windows CE device driver and its developing process in CNC systems is discussed. At last, the paper presents the prototype of Windows CE based Open-Architecture CNC system developed by the author.
