A new equipment, Electric Submersible Progressive Cavity Pump (ESPCP), is developed with the oil industry developing. It needs high speed motor and large torque to drive the Progressive Cavity Pump(PCP). So the gear decelerator is needed to match the motor and PCP. Because the diameter of the oil pipe is bellow 140mm, to achieve a large torque is a difficulty in our country. This paper gives the design of large torque gear decelerator in the ESPCP by analysis of the driving type, optimization and simulation in the computer.Some decelerator types which can be used in ESPCP are analyzed in order to choose a right type. The closed epicyclical gear trains is chosen because it has some advantages with ESPCP. It can make the power into two branches which are lower than before. This paper works out the torque,the transmission ratio,the efficiency and the closed power of the Closed epicyclical gear trains and offers the theoretical foundation to the mechanism designing and the simulation. To achieve the suitable parameters of the decelerator, a new method mixed with ACA(Ant Colony Algorithm) and SUMT(Sequential Unconstrained Minimization Technique) are used to optimize the system."Floor"optimization model is developed. It solves problems which are in machine optimization with ACA. For example, multiply variables, multiply constraint conditions, lower rate. The"Floor"optimization model is used in the optimization of gear decelerator successfully. It offers a method of optimization method in mechanical optimization.The load sharing is very important in planet gear train, to solve this problem, the system uses involute spline to achieve the load sharing. The mechanisms are linked with clearance. The errors are analyzed in the paper. Because the decelerator works in the crude oil, the environment of the crude oil is very bad for the gear decelerator system. The seal plays an important part in the decelerator. A special mechanical seal for the input and output shaft is designed.
