Emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization system is very complex, and ech system has its own mechanism. At present, most of researches are focused on the copolymer materials preparation and its copolymerization methods. There are only a few of studies concerning emusifier-free copolymerization mechanisms and kinetics. Therefore, it is very necessary to study the theory about emusifier-free copolymerization mechanism, kinetics characteristics, thermodynamics characteristics and particles nucleation, particles stabilization and particles growth. This thesis included four chapters. In chapter one, emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization theory, such as reaction kinetics , particles nudeation mechanism, particles stabilization mechanism, particles growth mechanism, influence factors of polymerization process and development of the technique were reviewed. At the same time, emulsifier-free emulsion copolymerization theories of vinyl acetate (VAc) and the comonomers were also introduced. In chapter two and chapter three, it mainly introduced the experiments of VAc systems, which included the system of emulsifier-free emulsion copolymerization of Vinyl acetate (VAc) and acrylic acid (AA), the system of VAc and methyl acrylate (MA), the system of VAc, AA and MA, and the system of VAc, butyl acrylate (BA) and AA. It mainly studied the nudeation mechanism, stability mechanism, and particle growth mechanism and copolymerization kinetics. And, analysis methods of FT-IR, DSC and TEM were used to characterize the copolymers. The conclusion was dropped from each reaction system in chapter four, all of these studies suggested that these reaction systems followed the...
