Active calcareousness, which has many advantages as the activator of steel-making residue, such as reducing the melting period, refining molten steel process, enhancing the purity and output of molten steel, decreasing the consumption of calcareousness and fluorite, increasing the life of converter, etc. is one of the basic raw materials introduced in steel-making industry. Besides it can be used in the purifying process of the molten steel. As one of the major equipments utilized in calcining active calcareousness, rotary kiln is applied broadly in China and it has the advantage of posing extensive material shape, good measuring adaptability and good mixture characteristic in inner kiln. China is the country which utilizes rotary kilns most in the world so far. With the quick development of the colored metallurgy industry and architectural industry, there is an increasing demand for rotary kiln, as well as the enlargement of its size. In addition, rotary kiln can be used in environment protection industry, including the dealing with rubbish and trashy rubber, therefore it's of great value and potential in the utilization of rotary kiln.The operation and thermodynamic system of rotary kiln can directly affect the quality of ripe materials. And gas temperature and flux in the kiln and superfluous air coefficient are the important parameters which affect the thermodynamic system. Therefore, through the thermodynamic analysis and calculation of calcining active calcareousness rotary kiln in Pan Zhihua Steel Factory, the relationships among rotary kiln efficiency, output and gas-fired quantity could be concluded. Then through the acknowledgement of those parameters, we can also control the thermodynamic system of rotary kiln, as well as command the calcining status of ripe materials.Based on the above research, the movement of the materials in rotary kiln was analyseed. The movement (of the materials) can be divided into two regions, one is the active surface region, the other is the solid region, and it goes under the way of rolling and falling. The heat transfer process in rotary kiln goes with extremely complex physical and chemistry process. Considering the revolving of the kiln body itself and the special movement way of the materials, as well as the influence of the material reaction dynamic parameters, we have established the unidimensional axial heat transfer model for rotary kiln.
