Study On Identification Of Safety Signs

Safety Signs ,which are composed of symbols, safety color and shape, is a sort of symbol which have the effect to remind safety. Safety Signs have the function which warn people the danger in the work place and surroundings. It tutors people take the reasonable action to avoid hazard. At the present time, the research on safety signs is confined to the shape, color and material. But there are few researches on safety signs from Ergonomics.In this paper, the author handled Ergonomics, Cognitive Psychology and Information Theory, and developed the research on the validity of safety signs. The author made an all-around appraisement on safety signs. There are four experiments were designed to do the research on the validity of safety signs. The objective of safety signs information content survey experiment is to quantify the identify degree of safety signs, The objective of safety signs recognition examination experiment is to discuss the identify situation of safety signs whose information content above zero, The objective of influence experiment of information content on processing is to analysis the influence of information content on the process of people, The objective of safety signs subjective appraisal questionnaire is to find out the relation of the character of safety signs and re-identify. SPSS for windows 13.0 Statistical Analysis Software is applied to analyze the data gathered from experimentations, by doing that the author draws conclusions:Using information content concept, the author quantify 66 safety signs. The author investigate the identification of safety signs above zero with identify experiment. Safety Signs are divided to two parts, one part of them have information content above zero, the other part of them have information content equal to zero. Sexual and educational level have signification influence on identify rate of safety signs, age has no signification influence on identify rate of safety signs. The degree of information content has signification influence on learn times. The degree of information content has signification influence on reaction time and the right rate. With the increase of information content, the reaction time increase, the right rate down. With the analysis of subjective appraise questionnaire, safety signs which have higher user performance have the character of concision, hilite , easy to remind, embody and common.The conclusions based on the research on safety signs, using psychology experiments, supply references to the design of safety signs. The research is practically meaningful to perfect the system of safety signs.
