Development Of 3D Design System For MPS Coal Rolling Mill

Product design is usually divided into transformation design, auto-adapted design and creative design. It is estimated that 80% of them are transformation design and auto-adapted design. It means most design processes are based on reusing the original knowledge, and only 20% is creative design. Therefore, how to shorten design period, raise the efficiency of designing, managing and manufacturing of product, respond to the market quickly, strengthen enterprise's competition with the foundation of original design, is very important.The MPS as the object and 3D CAD software of SolidWorks as the developing platform, 3D design technologies and methods for large machine were groped in this paper. Through the further-development of 3D software, a design system for MPS was developed, which was combined with the functions of showing part-tree, previewing, designing, modifying, outputting of BOM, and adding data. The major researches are as followings:1) A library of part MPS coal rolling mill was built. Three-dimension models and two-dimension engineering drawings of the parts were built, based on the original two-dimension engineering drawings and SolidWorks software platform.The models library provided good foundation for designing the same series of product.2) The paper researched the technology for building standard templates of 3D and 2D, assembly BOM and BOM information, which have supported the system.3) The paper choosed Access as data base management system, and built the component-classify database, component BOM database, summary information database, which have provided dada support for saving part informations, browsing product structure and outputting BOM information.4) Based on the API of SolidWorks software and oriented programming language Visual C++, database's accessing technology ADO, the program about the design system was programmed, which has accomplished the hiberarchy of MPS coal rolling mill's parts, BOM auto-building, adding data information.In this system, choosing VC++ and the Access database, good interface and independent modules for designing product were developed, which were integrated into SolidWorks very well. The application of the system shows that it can reduce the designers' work intension, shorten work time and improve the products' design efficiency and quality.
