The efficiency of the cold-rolled strip greatly symbolizes the iron and steel industry’s level of a country. As the economic development of our country, the requirements of high accuracy and ultra-thin strip steel become greater and the requirements of its quality become higher. Common cold rolled strip steel are usually produced by four or six rolls continuous cold rolling mill, for stainless steel, silicon steel and alloy steel which is difficult to deform, as well as high accuracy, wide and thin, ultra-thin strip steel are usually produced by multi-roll mill. In recent years, multi-roll mill are used not only for rolling the metal which is difficult to deform, but rolling some high accuracy and thin carbon steel belt. So the design and research of multi-roll mill has great practical significance and application value.In this paper, a new split-type of twelve high rolling cold strip mill is studied. On the basis of the split type 12-roller mill, the mechanical analysis of the whole system is carried out by changing the driving way of the mills. Finally, through the finite element software simulation on frame, roll system deformation and rigidity of rolling mill is analyzed, and makes a preliminary exploration on characteristics of plate shape control.This paper, based on the full understanding of the mill structure, simplifies the modle, uses the large-scale finite element software MSC.Marc to establish the three dimensional model, make finite element analysis. According to the results of the simulation of the driving way of the mills form before and after the change, frame, roll system deformation and rigidity of rolling mill has carried on the comparative analysis. In the exploration of plate shape control, mainly analyzed the mill with quadratic convex degree of loaded roll gap and four crown control.In order to determine the adjustment ability of the shape defects of the rolling mill on the shape of the two plate, the 1/4 wave and the edge of the composite wave. This is very important to the research of the roll mill’s characteristics.
