CNC machining Simulation System, which has many merits such as cheap, practical, lifelike and convenient, is attached importance not only in the corporation but also in training. In this paper, we research CNC Lathe Simulation System development method and key technology. On the basis of virtual reality technology, solid modeling theory, computer graphics technology, and CNC code, we develop CNC Lathe Simulation System. The main work of this paper is as follows:1,The virtual NC system interface is designed with the real FANUC 0i system standard control panel , which increases application and third dimension of virtual NC system.2,In order to represent, display and process movement of CNC Lathe, geometric modeling and the movement modeling are built and virtual Lathe movement is realized. Based on the analysis of the structure and movement of Lathe, hierarchical modeling method is realized.3,The system adopt 3ds Max to realize the geometric modeling of static entities, such as machine, tool-shaft, tool, and save it as 3ds format. Then using OpenGL and VC+ + as the development tool to import the 3ds file into the simulation system. For the high real-time dynamic manufacturing process and dimension precision piece, we adopt OpenGL redrawing technique and double-buffer dynamic technique to realize. In this way, we not only can guarantee vivid solid modeling, but also can save computer resource, and accelerate virtual CNC system running.4,The process method of NC code and the theory of compiling are studied. In terms of programming criterion of FANUC 0i system, the translator of NC code is designed and interpolation algorithms of NC instruction are realized. And the NC cutter location information file is produced to drive virtual NC system. The machining parameter optimization system of NC code is designed in the process of compiling NC code. Illogical parameter is presented by result that data in technical parameter base is compared with parameter of NC program, which makes trained people understand machining parameters deeply.5,Based on analyzing the character of tools and parts , uses the data-base knowledge of Microsoft Active Data Objects(ADO) , This module can realized the management function for cutting tools and parts, it can accomplish the lookup ,editing, adding and deleting.
