As a kind of special macrocyclic compounds with the particular structure and the nature, porphyrins have recently received more and more attention from many investigators in various fields, such as electrochemistry, photophysics, photochemistry, analytical chemistry and biomimetic chemistry. The four new metallo-porphyrin complexes with Cd, Cu, Pb, Co are synthesized respectively and the metallo-porphyrin complex with Zn, which is reported before, is abtained, too. Tetraphenylporphyrin(TPP) is synthesized successfully by using 4-nitrobenzoic acid as the catalyst and xylene as the solvent based on Adler. The influences of catalyst, solvent, temperature and raw material on the yield of TPP are investigated. The yield of TPP increases from 30.0% to 49.5%. These compounds are purified through sublimation and the purities reach 99.5%. All these compounds are characterized by FTIR,1HNMR and Element analysis. The sublimations of these compounds are investigated and the best sublimation conditions are achieved. For Zn(TPP)2, it is sublimed at the temperature of 340℃ under the vacuum is 3.8×10-3Pa; Cd(TPP)2, 350℃, 3.4×10-3Pa; Cu(TPP)2, 380℃, 3.7×10-3Pa; Pb(TPP)2, 370℃, 5.0×10(-3)Pa; Co(TPP)2, 350℃, 8.6×10-3; TPP, 4.3×10-3Pa,390℃.The photoelectric properties of tetraphenylporphyrin and the metallo-porphyrin complexes are studied by ultraviolet visible absorption spectroscopy and fluorescent spectrum. In the UV-Vis absorption of TPP, there are two absorption bands: strong Soret band and weak Q band, which Soret band locates at 417nm and Q band at 514nm, 549nm, 590nm, 648nm. TPP emits two fluorescent peaks, one strong absorption peak at 649.6nm and one weak absorption peak at 711nm. In the UV-Vis absorption of Cd(TPP)2, Soret band locates at 413nm and Q band at 546nm, 586nm. Cd(TPP)2 emits two fluorescent peaks, one strong absorption peak at 639.3nm and one weak absorption peak at 698.8nm. In the UV-Vis absorption of Cu(TPP)2, Soret band locates at 415nm and Q band at 538nm. Cu(TPP)2 emits two fluorescent peaks, one strong absorption peak at 650.5nm and one weak absorption peak at 711.1nm. In the UV-Vis absorption spectra of Pb(TPP)2, there are one strong absorption peak at...
