Porphyrine compounds are provided with special configuration and nicer stability to heat and light, biggish visible light extinction coefficient, they are one of the best known self-assembly materials, and have special effect in the electric charge transfer process. Thus, they are wildly used in the field of electrochemistry, optical physics, analytical chemistry, radiology biomimetic chemistry.26 meso-tetra(alkoxyphenyl)porphyrin silver, stannum complexes with different alkoxy chain length were synthesized through Alder-Longo method, all of them were new compounds.The complexes were purified and crystallizd. We found that the soild state of meso-tetra(alkoxyphenyl)porphyrins complexes could be achieved by crystallization from CHCl3/CH3OH solution in an ice-salt bath for long time. The meso-tetra(p-alkoxyphenyl) porphyrin silver complexes could be observed double refraction when these solid state compounds were put under polarizing microscope.The structure of these compnounds was identified through UV, IR, MS and 1HNMR. The correlation between the structure of compounds and UV, IR, MS and 1HNMR spectra were studied. Their special spectra were explained.The liquid-crystal properties of synthesized 26 metal derivatives were studied through DSC and POM, We found ten metallo-porphyrins have liquid-crystal characteristics, They show the enantiotropic liquid crystal. By POM, liquid crystalline state was observed and filamentary optical texture was displayed.
