The success of the synthesis of porphyrin array had greatly promoted the research on molecular electronic apparatus. Although different kinds of porphyrin array which contain vary molecular structure and molecular weights have been synthesized as the potential material for molecular electronic apparatus. The long route of preparation, adverse capability of artification, low efficiency of electron hole couple has limited the utilization of porphyrin array. To solve this problem, our group is going to designed a new kindβunsubstitued pyromathane to avoid the disadvantage of preparation and efficiency.In this paper, two dialadehyde bearing different group were synthesized. The obtained dialadehydes were catalyzed with n-Propionic acid to get four compounds ofβ-unsubstited tetrapyrromethane via Michale reaction. The kind of catalysts system were used in the oxygenous and hydrous circumstance. In the circumstance of using the n-Propionic acid as a catalyst, the relationship of the synthetic conditions and yield were deeply researched. The results showed that when using the n-Propionic acid as a catalyst for the 1,4'-tetrapyrromethane, 81% yield was obtained with 96.5% purity, while only 29.6% yield was obtained for the alkytetrapyrromethane with 90% purity. The results were analyzed and discussed.Furthermore, cationic ring-closing polymerization of tetrapyrromethane was carried out and the experiment conditions were also explored in this paper.A series of molybdenum complexes of meso-tetrakis(4-alkoxyphenyl)porphyrin were synthesized in this paper, their molecular structures were characterized by UV-vis, ~1H NMR, IR, MS and elemental analysis.Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and polarizing microscope (PM) were used to study the liquid properties of the serial compounds. Among them, there were one found to exhibit liquid crystal (L.C.)properties, it had one mesophases and certain phase transition temperature.
