Today, the acid-leaching method is the best method to produce optical fiber image bundles in the wide world. The optical fiber image bundles produced by acid-leaching technique have the advantages of thinner diameter, good flexibility, larger numerical aperture and high-resolution etc. Therefore, they have an important application value in the medical, industrial and military areas. And it is highly regarded both at home and abroad.In this dissertation, the basic principle, technical procedure and technical method, of preparing larger cross-section optical fiber image bundles by acid-leaching method were introduced in detail. And related tests were made for the optical performance of the prepared image bundles. In this dissertation, the advanced founding technique was used. By cutting prepared small cross-section optical fiber image bundles into certain length and being relatively sequenced into larger cross-section optical fiber image bundles, after founding technique and acid-leaching technique, the larger cross-section optical fiber image bundles in the acid-leaching method with diameter of 6.18mm or greater, diameter of single fiber of 8μm and resolution of 42.5Lp/mm were prepared. And then the influence factors on the performance of the larger cross-section optical fiber image bundles in the acid-leaching method were analysed in this dissertation. There were many methods how to improve the performance of image bundle were introduced. Finally, the influences that founding technique on performance were discussed.
