The Nd3+: YAG crystal is an important crystal material. The Nd3+: YAG crystal with high optical quality was grown by Czochralski method and divalent Nd3+ ion was used as charge Y3+ ion. The crystal bar is 140mm long, the maximal diameter is 40mm. The crystal has the beautiful lilac.Study on integrality of the crystal indicates that craze, subcooled components and dislocation are the main defects that affect quality of crystal. The corrosion method is used to analyse dislocation and research the distributive regular pattion of dislocation. The result indicates that the outer of dislocation density is fewer than the inner. Adjust the growth parameter of crystal can reduce dislocation effectively.The structure of Nd3+: YAG crystal was studied by the method of X-Ray; it was approved to be cubic family, Ia3d space group. From the crystai growth, the crystal lattice parameter becomes bigger, in the same transverse face the crystal lattice parameter has a little difference.The UV/visible spectra of Nd3+:YAG crystal was recorded, and the influences of containing Nd in it was studied. The result indicates that the adsorption coefficient is larger when the concentration of Nd in crystal increases, at the same time,the blue border of the UV spectra removes, and the spectras of different samples are familiar,crystal rattice deformation was not found.The conventional methords of the gemmology were used to research and analyse the Nd3+: YAG crystal. The hardness was 7.90~8.29,The density was 4.5764.582 . From the long-wave(365nm),it had strong purple fluoresence,from the short-wave (253.7 nm),it had middle yelloe fluoresence .And the cathodoluminescence was used to research the crystal and compared it with the similar gemstone. The conventional gemmology features and the cathodoluminescence feature of the crystal provide reliable evidence for identification. Introduce the market prediction of the Nd3+: YAG crystal.
