In recent years, with the enhancement of agricultural policy, high-density phosphate fertilizers and compound phosphate fertilizers has got a rapid development which stimulate the need for sulphuric acid as an important raw material. The development is very necessary in grain supply and economic development of China with a population of l,3billion.Moreover, the development of other industries which need acid also stimulate the need for sulphuric acid. Large-scale design and study of making acid by smelting exhaust gas (a dominant measure to economize on energy and reduce emissions) play an important role in promoting the whole country's technology of making acid.The fowling design is based on the technology of Jinchuan Group Limited , external trend of poducing acid by smelting exhaust gas and the change of market consumption structure. As to the small scale of making acid through exhaust gas, low sulphuric yield and an urgent need for introduction of key technology , the paper is aimed at providing an optimized design from several aspects like process of making acid, facilities option and supporting facilities.In this design ,new and efficient turbulence column washer is applied ,which greatly promote the rate of gas dust separations(≥96%) and lighten the load of follow-up facilities. Besides that the design adopts super electricity demister made of glass reinforced plastics on two poles which can keep working with high voltage under the guarantee of direct-current supply with constant current and high pressure. drying and absorptionoperation adopt a key technology with own intellectual property--new drying andabsorption tower with high efficiency and an anodic protection heat exchanger with great area. In the design, technical process disposition is optimized, cheap acid-resistant alloy compound tube is applied, the construction of translator and distribution of catalyzer is improved, the heat exchange in conversion process is optimized, efficient, active and long lasting catalyzer is applied. Hollow and casing heat exchanger with low resistance and high efficiency in outer heat exchange. Large scale completed acid storehouse with high position is taken. Some measures like making acid flow into tank lorry by potential difference are taken to economize on energy. So the design has strong power in the competitive market.
